First full day at sea

Dec 29 th. First day at sea on the way to the Falkland Islands. Morning devoted to mandatory briefings regarding site visitations guidelines, zodiac operations. We all made sure that our red suits and gumboots are OK. A geological tutorial from the rock hound explained the history of the land mass and the well known, well now to us, Stone Runs of the Falklands that formed during the Pleistolene period, 10,000 years ago. I guess everyone knew that. Also the info. on the break up of Gondwana land explained how the Falklands rotated 180 deg so that what is now the West Falklands was the East Falklands.
In the afternoon we also had a lecture on the policial hisotry of the Falklands and the war. Why would you fight and loose so many lives over such a small area. It is suggested that if they had used the money that was spent on the war they could have moved every Falklander to England and given them 5 million pounds each and no loss of life.

Sick Bags at the ready day one.
